We meet people in our journey of life and, sometimes, someone who starts off as a stranger ends up becoming your closest friend . You create great memories with them but one day, for whatever reason, we have to part ways.

It’s not always that the friendship went sour or even that we grew apart, but simply because they are moving to a different country, different job or even different stage in their life. Someone said that the only thing that is constant in life is change.

It’s always a difficult place to find oneself but, as with everything in life, change is hard but often for the best. I’ve had moments when I have had to say goodbye to dear friends I’ve known for many years.

Saying goodbye to friends and adapting to change in life is not an easy thing to do, but it’s something most people go through from time to time. Just because your friend is moving or starting on a new journey of life doesn’t mean you won’t still be close. Giving your friend a heartfelt send-off is a great way to show you’re still invested in the friendship.

I’ve written poems, letters and even dedicated a few songs to friends. This one song in particular is still on the top of my playlist of songs to dedicate to a friend(s).

Boyz II Men – “How Do I Say Goodbye”.

I feel truly fortunate to have known my friends and for them to have been part of this journey and look forward to seeing them achieving their set goals. To my friends, am not saying goodbye but “Til next time.”

To end this post, here’s something worth thinking about. In the Bible, Jesus gives a promise to everyone who believes in Him, that He will never leave them or forsake them. Through the ages, there have been countless expressions, from various people who have taken the step of faith, of the validity of this promise. Jesus promises to be a friend who will not leave. So, though we may often feel the pain of our physical friends leaving, spiritually we know we’re taken care of.
