US donates ninety thousand dollars to Kenya to fight terrorism Mon Mar 7 2011 13:50:29

The Kenya government has made it clear that it will not condone terrorism and will help any country in the world to fight it.

The rebel group Al Shabaab has already infiltrated Kenya and is recruiting vulnerable young Kenyans. As ethnic Somalis, there is nothing to distinguish the insurgents from their Kenyan neighbors.

Youths are offered up to $600 (£374) per month.

Due to this the government of the United States of America has decided to partner with the Kenya Community Support Centre (KECOSCE) a nongovernmental organization to help combat terrorism through local participation and empowering the youths.

The organization (NGO) based at the Coast of Kenya.

Its operations are focused on the grassroots people and people’s organizations, with special attention given to youth and women. On the account of community needs, KECOSCE has adopted a rights based approach in its programs with sustainable service delivery alongside creative advocacy within its areas of jurisdiction.

The US government recently donated a 90,000 (Ninty Thousand US Dollars) grant to help combat terrorism in Kenya.

Donated by US Ambassador to Kenya Michael Ranneberger in his tour of Mombasa town.

The money is channeled through KECOSCE.

KECOSCE runs a program on youth affairs and has concern that many youths from Kenyan coast have risked their lives by joining militia groups like Al Shabaab.
